Agave

Agave

Surrounding one of the larger buildings in San Diego’s Old Town district is a group of agave. The resilience of the plant is interesting to me; if you look in the lower left corner you can see someone carved initials into it, yet it had zero effect on the overall health, growth and life of the plant. Incidentally, the initials are really backwards; the photo is shown correctly. Something else that interests me is that apparently the plant causes people to be able to write backwards…

We should strive to be as resilient. People come in and out of our lives in various forms every day: the barrista at Starbucks, the guy taking your lunch order, the mailman… we see and potentially interact with tons of people every day. How do they influence you? How have they carved their legacies into your subconcious; how have you carved yours into theirs?
