There have been songs sung and poems written about it: This truly is the most wonderful time of the year. And sure, the family, the parties, the presents are all great; but you know what really makes this the most wonderful time of the year? It’s hockey season!
If you’re not sure what I mean, get out and see your local NHL, AHL, college or major junior team (if you’re in canada). Watching it on TV is fantastic, but to really get to know the game you’ve got to watch it in person. All the nuances, strategies and team play can be fully realized and enjoyed when you’re in the arena, away from the forced perspective of the TV cameras. Watching the players that are away from the puck, you start to appreciate the game a little more. They’re not right in the play, but they’re still working.
This is my Christmas gift to you: the gift of hockey. Enjoy!
